Community Choirs

“When people join together and pull together a performance you just can't buy this. It's something which is magical and so incredibly valuable. It lives in the memory, part of the fabric of life. In communities in the past, I think artistic ways of expression were more accessible than in our time. Modern day city lives can lose this. When we can participate and we feel the benefits of it, it's something we want to hang on to and want to keep doing. I suppose community music is replacing the aspects of community that existed in the past.”
Meryn quoted by
Anne Power and Robert Waters

Why? To Have fun, learn and be part of a community.

The Association of Canada Bay Community Choirs is an enthusiastic group of community members who love to sing and make music. We are based in the inner-western suburbs of Sydney, NSW. We welcome singers across a range of musical knowledge and singing ability. If you enjoy singing, team spirit and learning, this could be the choir for you.

Click here to read an excellent article about the benefits of community choirs entitled "Community: Singing for Joy"; written by Katie McRobert and published in the Blue Mountains electronic magazine, The Mountains Blueberry.

If you want to make music then join us – we’d LOVE to have you. You don’t have to read music, although it’s obviously an advantage.

CBCC is a non-auditioning choir, with members from all walks of life.  Join us on Thursday evenings during the school term at the Drummoyne Community Centre between 7pm and 9pm. Click here to download a CBCC membership form.

Or join our daytime choir, CBCC-BD, on alternate Tuesdays between 1pm and 3pm at the Drummoyne Community Centre. Click here to download a CBCC-BD membership form or click here to join online.

When

The choirs operate on a term basis, based on public school terms. While most regular members participate in all four terms per year, this is not compulsory. We recognise that people have other commitments and may need to miss a term here and there. It is best if new members join the choir at the first or second rehearsal of a new school term. Potential new members should introduce themselves to our Membership Secretary. Click here to download the Choir Practice Schedule.
