Free Choral Workshops at the Drummoyne Community Centre

Learning Goals

·      Understand the text, symbols and syntax on a music score.

·      Be able to translate the score into sound.

·      Be able to sing a familiar song and follow the score.

·      Be able to sing unfamiliar songs with unusual rhythms using the score.

·      Be able to sing in harmony without accompaniment.

Musicians

Michelle Leonard – Workshop Director

Michelle is the founder, artistic director and conductor of the Leichhardt Espresso Chorus, which over the last ten years she has developed into one of Sydney’s premier community choirs with over a hundred singers. She has worked in some of Sydney leading music schools and is a past assistant conductor of the Sydney Children's Choir. Michelle is founder, artistic director and conductor of Moorambilla Voices, which are regional children's choirs based in Western NSW.

Lindsey Gilroy – Accompanist

Lindsey studied at the Sydney Conservatorium receiving the University of Sydney Medal and the University Postgraduate Award which enabled her to study for a Masters Degree. She gives recitals, accompanies soloists and choirs and teaches piano.
